MY CONTRIBUTIONS
My contributions incorporate recommendations from other AAA game examples and proposed user-friendly principles, covering areas such as culture norms, western perspective best practices, interaction design, user flows, UI design, content, localization, and accessibility compliance.
I have focused on the following content areas:
LOBBY MAIN MENU
In this part, my main focus was on analyzing the visual appeal and the intuitive design of the game's entry point for players, enhancing their initial interaction with the game.
HEROS
Based on the current design, I proposed some improvements for character UI that align with the rich lore of the Marvel Universe, ensuring each hero felt authentic and engaging. Additionally, I identified with information hierarchy and user reading patterns, which needed addressing to enhance overall usability.
CUSTOM GAME
In the custom game section, there were several UX issues related to team mates interactions and I proposed solutions inspired by similar games to address these problems.
CHAT
During my work, the game was still in the WIP stage, which included the chat system. So it was easy to identify chat features that needed improvements.
COMBAT / HUD
As a PVP first-person shooter game, the combat and HUD are crucial for the user. Therefore, I meticulously reviewed and refined these aspects to ensure they are both functional and intuitive.
ACCESSIBILITY
From my work experience, I have noticed that accessibility is often lacking in Chinese UX design. To address this, my colleagues and I have thoroughly collected numerous accessibility related features in this project.
MISCELLANEOUS
CONCLUSION
The launch of "Marvel Rivals" has been a rewarding experience, with my UX analysis contributing to the game's final success. While I didn't produce formal UX design documents for this project, all of the insights from my research were incorporated into the final product. It’s been fulfilling to see how the analysis influenced key aspects of the game's design, improving the overall player experience. Collaborating with the team and seeing these positive changes reflected in the final work has been a valuable learning experience for me.
